How important is it to you, at being consistent with your endeavors in your life? I would say it is one of the most important aspects in the human development. Understanding that, without consistent struggle in life, we cannot grow as the human species. Sure, it might be hard at first, but through the mistakes made in the beginning, you can learn from them and continue striving to get better.
Since the early age, I wanted to be a writer. When I was growing up, that was the only way that I defined myself, if anyone asked. However, underneath all of this wanting, I was a huge procrastinator. After working 5 years in Marketing and Sales, I realized that writing, was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Recently, I started to get more serious, with my writing. I created a website and started to use the Marketing skills that I learned from my job, at building my Freelance Writing business. It has been up-hill battle, but it seems to be paying off.
After only a few months in the Freelance Writing business, I was fortunate to find, three clients. I realized that if I continued staying consistent, I would be able to double my clientele and my writing income. In the year 2009, my goal is to make $1,000 per a month. It will not be easy, but will surely, be rewarding. If consistency is what I need, in order to reach that goal, consistent I will be.
As you can see, if I can stay consistent with something I love, anyone can do it. Just remember, choose something you love or have passion for, because if you choose something, that gives no meaning to your existence, the motivation to keep going will die. When the motivation dies, you die.

I believe when it comes to writing particularly consistency is basically the be all and end all. Even with those stories of folk who made it in the blink of an eye you find that the seed had been sown many years before. The passion may not have been acted on, but it had been consistent. Thanks for the post, v motivating.
Thank you! I appreciate you commenting.
You can reach your goal. You did very well up to now. Your heart is in the right place too.
Eugene - Thank You!
I agree consistency does play a part, but for me I think it is more appropriate to say that persistance and learning to believe in one's self has played an equal if not larger role in defining success.
findingmywingsinlife - Thank You! For your comments.
I can see how persisting in a dream and being consistent with quality are important to you as a career writer but to me consistency is stagnation and repetition is lacking creativity.
I like to be consistently random.
I think by saying that though we are not in disagreement :) You obviously need to be a creative person to be a writer but consistent in quality and determination not in creative output.
Anyway, just popping by, I shouldn't fill your pages with my ramblings hehe.
I would like a clock with a mechanism that made the hands move at varying speeds and for the numbers to be randomly spaced. Would be no rush hour to worry about in that world.
Consistency and perhaps flexibility - to allow for unexpected changes that life sometimes throws our way.
Tao - Nah, I love your insight! Thank you for sharing. Please, continue checking back.
Aggie- Thank you! Your wonderful!:)
Consistency of effort, yes. Consistency of achievement is harder for some of us to come by.
consistency. ah yes. i have a major problem with people who are inconsistent. freefalling about (unless it's out a plane with a parachute) annoys me hugely. and you're so right, do something you love, can you imagine day after day of trudging through sludge you don't like.... shoot me!!!! good luck with all your writing endeavours. with consistency, you'll get your reward, no lie.
Consistency vrs procrastination. Hard one. I have a friend who is constanty going off at a tangent, not finishing one thing before something else pops into her head, and off she goes. As a result a new expresion had developed in our house: 'doing an Elizabeth'. I try very hard not to 'do an Elizabeth' and often fail misrebly. I suppose because I haven't been published yet or been paid for my writing I don't consider myself a proper writer, and so put everything else first. Perhaps I'm consistantly bad at not being good enough!
Hello, thanks for stopping by my little blog. I'm very well thank you; your blog is really interesting. Have a great day
Leon,
Yes, I think perhaps consistency and persistence are getting a bit entangled here. You want to be persistent in pursuing your passion, persistent in honing your craft, persistent in improving quality. You may want to be consistent in writing something every day and not procrastinating. And be insistent on not letting others discourage you, but not resistant to new ideas or constructive suggestion.
I try to be consistent in my principles and persistent in reaching my goals.
Larry E.
First, it is important for me to be consistent with my life endeavors. I need to be consistent when I deal with my children whether it be punishment or praise. I need to be consistent in my daily walk with my Lord in prayer and reading God's Word. This means I need to do these things on a regular basis to help just not reach my goals, but for others to be able to learn from me...such as my children.
Although I feel consistency is very important to reach my full potential as the person God has created me to be, I must do these things walking in persistent love or what I do is nothing but I resounding gong.
I have always been with the opinion that the things we love, we love with a reason...God has wired us with a passion for his plan. It just takes some of us longer to realize what it is He has for us to do.
I believe you are right when you say you need to seek your heart for the passion you enjoy doing most, but also seek the Lord for what He desires for you.
Keep writing Leon! You spark the minds of many and make us all think! Thank you!
I too always wanted to write but I drifted into teaching. However, that gave me an outlet for my creativity so I'm not too frustrated. However, it's wonderful that you're pursuing your dreams.
Thank you all for sharing your thoughts/opinions:) Please, come back soon.
Making money out of it is the hardest however consistent and persistent you are.

I can relate. Several years ago I moved from Marketing & Sales into Corporate Communications, which required me to write consistently for my job. I felt I was moving in the right direction, but was stifled somewhat creatively and couldn't seem to find time to work on my own writing anymore. The consistency did seem to give me more confidence though and I decided to leave corporate America to stay at home with my 2-year-old and try my hand at freelance writing a little over a year ago. It has been a whole new learning experience, but I feel creatively re-energized and have worked with several really good clients. Persistence definitely seems to be the key in searching for new freelance jobs. I'm also trying to learn how to manage and budget for the fact that I never know what my income from writing will be month to month.
Dina - Thank you for your input.
I am well, thanks for asking... Wasn't sure where to write this because you have about 12 blogs. Thanks again and take care mister.
Franciose Mordecai - Well, this my main one. :)
Writing too is my passion and can get lost in it for hours - since I was a child, the same as you. I've always wanted to get into the freelance writing business yet do not have the slightest idea on how to begin, where to begin. Any advice you can give to a novice in this area? I work in Education and copy edit almost everything that comes my way - and stand in horror, day after day, of the multitude of errors I have to fix (especially given that I work in an institution of higher learning).
rebecca - Please, email me. It would be easier to communicate with you that way. Thanks
Congratulations on making the commitment to stay true to what you love doing.
All the best for your goal in 2009.
Kim.
Nice article. Someone else explained it in terms of bodybuilding. Looking at the weight (problem) as beneficial and a way to grow and expand. No pain, no gain. But you have to be consistent, persistent, focused and determined to see any real results. Keep at it and in the end you'll be the real winner.
Kim Dare - Thank You!
