Misery: Destruction Of Human Psyche

Destruction of the human psyche continues throughout his or her lifetime. When does an individual realize that they had led themselves into misery, is a question that never seems to be asked by an individual. The world we live in now is full of greed and power. Who controls that power? Do we control it, or do the people who posses the wealth do? The basic premise of life is to grow and develop as the human species. Why then do we feel dumber, when we watch television? Is it because people, who care about power and greed, are strategists who want to program us, in order to make a profit? A logical explanation could be because control, which equates to power, is a satisfying feeling to these people.

Our mind is an ultimate power grid that consists of nerve endings. If fear is what we see every single day, we react by being afraid. For instance, if we see graphs of people losing their jobs, we start to react to what we have just seen. There seems to be three levels, of how control is embedded into our minds. First level is seeing a visual, like a video. Second level is seeing a video and thinking about what the video talks about. The goal is to hypnotize us and not let us think for ourselves. They use words, phrases, music, celebrities and other puppets, that shift our thinking patterns. Level three is reacting to what you have seen. If they tell you that the stock market is going to crash, you react by taking money out of your bank account or retirement account. We are inclined to do that, because we have seen the “warning signs” on our television screens. We follow on assumption that the people who are speaking in the video are telling us the truth. Do you really think that their goal is to inform us? My observation tells me that it is to make a profit, nothing more and nothing less.

Our human psyche destructs when we listen to people who are misinforming us, because we are lazy to do our own research. We continue to fall far into misery, because we are used to following along and ignoring our own logical common sense. I am going to keep this post short, because I want to write a more in-depth essay on this topic later. I wanted to introduce you to this topic and hope that you will do your own research.

There is something compelling about a T.V. screen that suggests at some level that this must be true. It gives it authenticity. How often as a teacher I have had pupils say to me:"What you were telling us is true - it was on the telly last night!"

I look foreward to more about this important issue.
I personally am very interested in the use of mindcontrol techniques, propaganda, Orwellian double speal, NLP techniques/gestures etc etc etc

My very first LSD Trip when I was 15--hadn't read any books, studied etc--was seeing deeply how peoples body language contradicted the social mask they were showing

I think this is a skill that many 'civilized' people have lost. You read of Indigenous people of America saying how the white invaders spoke with 'forked tongue' and had cold eyes, etc etc. Well that is also seeing deeply. Whereas OUR so-called 'education is designed to filter these deeper perceptive capacities out of us, so that we then Do believe the BS coming out of the false smiling/serious mask of the politician! We DO believe his words which are using Orwellian logic which confounds us into utter irrationality

Checkout about Master of PR/Spin, and Sigmund Freud's nephew, Edward Bernays. If anyone poo poos the notion of 'conspire theory' I always tell em to checkout THIS dude!

I'd say it's a fairly small minority that can even make it to your level 2 "thinking about what the video talks about." Most people seem to just see visuals and believe it without the slightest bit of thought - I imagine the advertising companies would be out of luck otherwise.

People generally just want to be entertained; they're fooling themselves if they think news stations or anyone else who makes money from videos don't realize that. Sadly, fear is what sells on television - no one wants to hear about how a Boy Scout helped an old lady cross the street. The brutal murder in the next city is far better entertainment.

We probably disagree on the motivations people have for breeding fear, but I'm not sure the end result is much different either way - a thoughtless populace. Kind of ironic, actually; tons of people afraid the world is going to hell transform into the people making the world go to hell. We need more healthy cycnicism.

I was born cynical I suppose because I've always taken everything in the media with a pinch of salt.
Spot on observation as always.

Excellent essay on this issue. This is exactly why I prefer not to watch the boob tube. I destruct and rebuild in my own way, strange as it may be. Media propaganda simply stunts my personal growth. Don't get me wrong, I do catch the important news of the day, but at least I have enough of a mind to understand that I'm not getting the whole truth of the matter on most occasions and don't let the fear mongering affect my own processes.

Very well written analysis.

and that is the crux of the problem: that people are sheep. i believe i meet more followers than leaders or innovative thinkers or people who listen to their own voice, to the logic that makes sense to them. it's downright scary to tell the truth. just because it is written, it doesn't make it correct; just because it's over the counter, it doesn't make it safe; just because the next schmuck is doing it, doesn't make it right. sad.

i don't know about you, but i sometimes get aggravated by it all. it's like you want to shout and say, "people! wake up!"

but if your diet consists of reality shows and reading gossip magazine and worrying and talking about the latest brangelina nonsense, then what else should we expect?

there is a multitude of good programming on tv; there is a multitude of good reading to be found; there are a multitude of people around with knowledge that can be of use to you. the object is to be smart enough to associate oneself with that.

In the end hasn't it always been about control? Schools that teach children how to memorize rather than to think, history that is rewritten to suit historians. Control what people believe and you are left with a nation of puppets dancing on strings.

The opiate of the masses? TV - I've watched docos on the dumbing down of America. The truth is that it affects all races/countries. I hardly ever switch on TV anymore.

Leon Basin said...

Dave King - It's true! I'm glad you have noticed it.

muzuzuzus- Thanks for your contribution and I will definitely write a more in-depth analysis of this issue. Thanks!

Ben Holsapple - Well, I tried! I simply outlined the steps. Not everyone reaches all three levels. Some can be programmed simply on level one. Thanks for your input. Hope you come again.

claire p- Being observant is always great:)

Shadow - Thank you! Will get it out as soon as possible.

Rose Weaver - Yea, it's using your common sense at the end of the day.

Ray Wong- No problem and thank you!!

rebecca- Great input!

Dana - Glad to hear you will be back and I am definitely not a sleepwalker heh.

elliott610 - You are right on the money. This is what I thought when I was going through educational hurdles.

Aggie - Glad to hear it! I threw my television away a long time ago. I use the internet if I need to catch up on a tv show. Thanks for visiting.

Hi
Came across your site via the computer going to my blog for nought seconds! It's all beyond me. Read some of your work, very good but very serious! I am fascinated as to how you make the pennies (dollars) roll in.Who pays the bills. exactly what and how does a researcher work. Plus I wrote a book of short stories and lost money. No talent perhaps. Do you write books to order. Tell me to bog off if you like but its all interesting to a geriatric old codger. Love you to look at my blog if you get time. Thank god I don't need the money but get a bit from public speaking. £20 a time. Tony Blair exceeds 100,000 dollars a time and I'm better!

I agree with the control/power/money problem so many have in this world today. Many people assume these three things will satisfy and resolve all their problems if they possess these in great quantity.

Our mind is a constant battlefield where our right and left brain stuggle to define who we really are as a person. It is only when one realizes our true identity is found only in Christ Jesus that the freedom bell begins to resound within us.

Do the stuggles cease when we choose to follow the Lord and listen to the whispers of the Holy Spirit? Absolutely not! But it does take the fear out of living knowing my life is in the hands of the man who walked on water, rose from the dead, and sits at the right hand of the Father. It helps to know I am loved no matter my sin past or present and that I am redeemed. I must remind myself to take captive every thought and give it to my sweet Savior and trust He will guide me in the right direction.

I also must make the choice to repent from sin. This just does not mean asking for forgiveness, but actually turning my back from sin and desire to do it no longer. As a result of this, there are some shows (alot of shows) on television I simply do not watch because it causes my mind to sin. We must realize the only truth comes from the Father of Heavenly lights who does not change like shifting shadows!

People - living and everything who can mow in every direction are they lazy?
When I was twenty I read and debate "world problem" with my friends. I hold my self update reading heavy stuff...(The news paper) Don't tell any...;-) The cartons in the last pages was really instructive.
Do you know that I don't lie...instead I'm very careful about the true...When friends ask me if I have read the latest of example,Leon Basin...My answer is " it laying beside me on the night table..." The true is... I don't know if he have write any new book. Go and see drama on the theatre! Well, that we can do, but, in my opinion it's so damn old fashion. Thanks heaven for idol on TV...that is drama...life it self is drama, don't you think? That may be the reason why ordinary people like me started to write blog...To wake up and create a debate and clean up the world ! Maybe the reason can be that we don't see ourself important enough!?

You have really awesome comment in Contemplation

Hi there - you left a comment on my blog on a day that I was sick - thank you so much! All the comments really made my day. (You have so many blogs - hope I am hitting the right one!)

Sorry it took me so long to comment back - I am just starting to feel better.

I like your writing - and I agree that people allow the media to influence their lives to a somewhat unhealthy degree. I was just having this discussion with my husband last night about commercials - I can't stand them all. Don't insult my intelligence!

I look forward to reading more!

I am glad you are a writer and such a young (chronologically not intuitively) writer because I suspect this will be a topic you will work on at different points in your life.

I discovered when I turned sixty (three years ago) that simply living multiple decades without doing regular psychological housekeeping along the way, that one's psyche starts to unravel.

The edges get worn off of your bravery and attention to inner detail until fear begins to creep in and you no longer are quite as prone to taking risks.

Certainly outside influences contribute to the destruction, but not without our allowing it.

Fortunately there is Grace that abounds and often acts as the Mennen Skin Bracer to wake us up again and get back on the path of creation rather than destruction.

I can't wait to see your blog about this topic. It's very multi-faceted and we all will gain from your insights.

Pardes - THank you so much! My writing consist mostly of what I see, hear, read, observe and on and on it goes. My feelings, thoughts always change. It's like a pen moving in one direction, producing one thought and crossing it out, because it did not work. Thank you so much for visiting and following me;)

Most people don't want to think for themselves, it's too hard and time consuming to educate themselves. It's much easier to be told what to think and who to blame. Call me cynical if you like, but I'd have to say that a majority of people float through life without ever learning to think for themselves.

Leon Basin said...

Jane Doe - Nah, you are absolutely right on the money. People are lazy and that's really what it comes down too!:)
