I went to school many many moons ago BFADHD (Before 'ADHD' was conjured up by the social controllers!!). I hated, and loathed it. It was like this big dark cloud over my young life, and I resent that utterly. That children should be forced into these evil buildings!! And institution, which is 'education'

All it is is to mould children into conformist, apathetic, sadists. And much damage is done. Especially for those bullied (which can be a lifelong scar), and with the stigma of 'mental illness' which millions of children now, and many getting younger and younger, have attached to them. Such as being 'diagnosed' as 'ADHD' etc etc.

IF we love our children, and I dont just mean your own flesh and blood but as being ALL responsible for children's well being. We must get them out of those fukin schools!! And question the whole shoddy pretence of 'education'.

not all children are stupid, and many school curriculums are good. but there has taken hold in our society some thought that education isn't important. in some schools, academic achievement is laughed at by other students. allowing such marginal schools to continue is shameful.

The dumbing down in the education seems to be world wide. My husband tutors privately some children from the state sector and at times we are just flabbergasted at the lack of proper education.

Well the dumbing down has been going on for a good long time and some my argue that it has always been around. Keeping America dumb means that we bring on generation after generation of passive and obedient consumers. The good thing is the information is out there to enlighten yourself if you wish it's just a very time consuming process that takes persistence. But you can break free from the chains.

Thank you for dropping by my blog and leaving a comment. I listened to this whole video in this post..interesting. Not only is this country "dumbing down" but we are all also becomong so "comfortably numb" it scares me..either that or it's the total opposite..someone is filled with anger and pain and so in order to get rid of it goes and shoots people or their own family members..our nation has become so dysfunctional it just astounds me. So many shut down people.

People are led so easily to "fit in" or do what their told..society is like that..if someone you know does it then it's okay for you to think the same? Or you pressure yourself that you must be like other around you? I don't really get that as I'm my own person and don't feel that kind of pressure to do as others around me do.

I've been checking out your blog here..you are obviously very multi-dimensional and a very talented writer and poet. I think I will like this blog and be checking it out. I can't believe you have written a few books already. I've not known how to do the publishing thing, my creative dyslexic mind has a hard time trying to get someone interested (offline) in my work..yet I'm told often it's very good and "different" so far nothing..but like you I believe in my dreams of all my poems in a book with artwork, some of it mine) put to the theme of each poem. I won't give up. I feel I have a calling to do this to help to heal the world.

I used to live in the bay area, from the Concord, Pleasant Hill area.

Hmm. I'm gonna put her book on my reading list. But I have to say, that some of what she's talking about represents more John-Bircher-type paranoia than astute analysis. Even though I can verify some of her sources and facts (some are simply incorrect), the conclusions she draws from them are deeply flawed--even though the deliberate "dumbing down" effect is real and serious.

Iserbyt correctly notes that the studies pertaining to this began in the late 1960s. Michigan and Wayne State University were two centers studying this particular issue. If you're keenly interested in this, I would recommend that you read Les Braverman's Labor and Monopoly Capital, a review of which you can find here.

Thanks for the visit and comment. I work in education here down under and I know that the basics are no longer taught and that behaviour problems overide most teaching of large classrooms. Teachers are more about control than teaching. Such a shame.

Thank you Vicki and Jim for commenting. Yea, I agree with you Vicki different counties have different standards and the whole "Leave no child behind" seems like BS to me. I believe it was instilled in order to control the masses. I will continue writing and sharing my writing. Thank you!

Jim- I have seen The Matrix and I love it tremendously. I did not enjoy the other two, however. I remember when I attended High School. I always had problems memorizing and having a short-term span. However, when I graduated from High School and started College I felt freer from useless information.

have you ever watched the movie The Matrix. This kind of reminds me of what it meant to take the 'blue pill'.
I have to admit, I am currently reflecting on how dumb I have made myself. When I was a teenager, I must of had 25 phone numbers memorized, at the ready to fire through the key pad of our wall mounted phone. Today, I know my wife's phone number and mine. I don't even know my work phone number! How rediculous is that?
We let our computers store information for us today. This is certainly not a bad thing. However, I am realizing the need to discipline myself and memorize some important phone numbers. This is also good excercise for the brain.

I am here reading both of your blogs because you left a comment on mine.
Since I have taught in schools, and still have connections, I am interested in this topic. In many ways, the idea of keeping some standards low is correct. The motivation may be to "leave no child behind". If the standards are lower, all can enter successfully.
On the other hand, the standards for those who excel are getting more exacting, more difficult. I am speaking about my own county only, and a few pockets of knowledge I have of different areas here and there.
I wish you well in you writing.
