Microchip Implants Is Happening Now! How Bizarre!

This is something else: Barcelona club culture has been given a shot in the arm-quite literally-as Baja Beach Club now offers injectable microchip implants for its VIP members. Apparently, credit cards or key chains were just not enough for club owner Conrad Chase; he wanted something different that would get under the skin of his trend-conscious customers. So, in March, he introduced chip implants at his Port Olympic nightclub.

League to Lay off About 80 Amid Economic Slowdown (Analyzing the News)

The NBA is laying off 9 percent of its work force over worries about the U.S. economy, commissioner David Stern said.
"We made a decision some months ago that the economy was going to be a bit wobbly, so we began a belt-tightening that will result in a work-force reduction of about 9 percent domestically," Stern said Sunday, speaking before an NBA preseason game at London's O2 arena.
This translates into about 80 jobs, he later told Reuters.
"There is a season-ticket renewal rate decline, and new sales are also being hit," he said. "My guess is when [the regular season] kicks off, we will be down modestly in season ticket sales."
Leon's View
I just do not understand the logical reasoning behind this plan. One player makes 22 million a year, while most of these; hard working people make 10hr, where is the logic behind this? I am amazed every single day when I read things like this. It seems like we do not care anymore about what is right and what is wrong. Let us continue paying “basketball players” top money while the people who are struggling to survive on minimum wage lose jobs and end up on the street. Let us continue helping these pro athletes buy cars, houses, and other unnecessary material crap.

Homeless Man Dies After Being Set Ablaze (Analyzing the Incident)

A homeless man died after being doused with gasoline and set on fire on a street where he had lived for many years and was a familiar face to residents of Koreatown, police and local merchants said Friday.
Police were called to Third Street west of downtown Thursday evening and found the man, who was pronounced dead at a hospital.
A man in his 20s was seen throwing gasoline on the man, chasing him, throwing more on him and running from the scene, said Deputy Chief Sergio Diaz.
Leon’s View
Young people today seem to have a different definition in how to have fun. Chasing after a homeless person, harassing him is not only problematic but truly a psychological problem. I would blame the media for these terrifying acts, but it seems that blaming just one particular group or industry is not always the right way to workout the problem. We have to first look into the young man’s personal connection with his parents. Were the parents there when this young man was growing up, or were they too busy working or just plain-fully ignoring the signs. Most likely, it was a combination of the few reasons outlined. I feel that parents are a problem, but we do not have enough information about what caused this young man to act the way he did. It must be a mix of multiple things.

The Amero - North American Currency

This video highlights a very serious concern which none of our media is looking into. The Amero is being looked at as the defacto currency of the North American Community (or Union).

This video is from CNBC November 27th, 2006

The Pentagon will receive a record $488B budget; automakers get $25B in loans; offshore drilling ban lifted.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The House passed a $630 billion-plus spending bill Wednesday that wraps together a record Pentagon budget with aid for automakers and natural disaster victims, and increased health care for veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.

The year-end budget measure also would lift a quarter-century ban on oil drilling off the Atlantic and Pacific coasts. The legislation, which senators are expected to approve and send to President Bush for his signature, is flying under the political radar compared with the White House's contentious plan to bail out Wall Street.

Spies Warn That Al Qaeda Aims for October Surprise

WASHINGTON — In the aftermath of two major terrorist attacks on Western targets, America's counter-terrorism community is warning that Al Qaeda may launch more overseas operations to influence the presidential elections in November.

Call it Osama bin Laden's "October surprise." In late August, during the weekend between the Democratic and Republican conventions, America's military and intelligence agencies intercepted a series of messages from Al Qaeda's leadership to intermediate members of the organization asking local cells to be prepared for imminent instructions.

U.S. Still Suffering From Gas Shortages

NEW YORK -- With an estimated 20 percent of the nation’s refinery capacity on hold due to Hurricane Ike, retailers located in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic regions not affiliated with major gas bands are experiencing gas shortages.

A number of c-store chains with unbranded fuel, including Altoona, Pa.-based Sheetz Inc., are refusing to pay inflated wholesale prices that are in some cases $1 higher than those charged to branded affiliates, reported USA Today. "It’s an unfounded price point [oil companies] were putting on it," executive vice president of marketing, Louie Sheetz, told the paper. "They said, ‘How bad do you want it?’ I said, ‘Not that bad.’"

NASA To Discuss Conditions On And Surrounding The Sun

NASA will hold a media teleconference Tuesday, Sept. 23, at 12:30 p.m. EDT, to discuss data from the joint NASA and European Space Agency Ulysses mission that reveals the sun's solar wind is at a 50-year low. The sun's current state could result in changing conditions in the solar system. Ulysses was the first mission to survey the space environment above and below the poles of the sun. The reams of data Ulysses returned have changed forever the way scientists view our star and its effects. The venerable spacecraft has lasted more than 17 years - almost four times its expected mission lifetime. The panelists are: -- Ed Smith, NASA Ulysses project scientist and magnetic field instrument investigator, Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, Calif. -- Dave McComas, Ulysses solar wind instrument principal investigator, Southwest Research Institute, San Antonio -- Karine Issautier, Ulysses radio wave lead investigator, Observatoire de Paris, Meudon, France -- Nancy Crooker, Research Professor, Boston University, Boston, Mass.
To access visuals that will the accompany presentations, go to:  http://www.nasa.gov/topics/solarsystem/features/ulysses20080923.html

China Paper Urges New Currency Order After Financial Tsunami

BEIJING (Reuters) - Threatened by a "Financial Tsunami," the world must consider building a financial order no longer dependent on the United States, a leading Chinese state newspaper said on Wednesday. The commentary in the overseas edition of the People's Daily said the collapse of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc may augur an even larger impending global 'financial tsunami'."

Run On The Bank? Americans Could Lose Their Deposits

You know things are bad when Yahoo.com, the most trafficked website in the world and usually a purveyor of mindless celebrity gossip, cooking tips and dating advice, features a top story about how Americans could lose their bank deposits following the collapse of Lehman Brothers.

For the Internet giant to prominently report that there is already a “slow motion run on banks” is indeed a landmark event, and precludes even the most ignorant American from claiming they were not forewarned about the unfolding economic catastrophe.

Firing by Pakistani troops forced US military helicopters to turn back to Afghanistan after they crossed into Pakistani territory in the early hours of Monday, Pakistani security officials said. The incident took place near Angor Adda, a village in the tribal region of South Waziristan where US commandos in helicopters raided a suspected al Qaeda and Taliban camp earlier this month.

Is CNN Getting Kicked Out of Russia?

I found an interesting article: You probably didn't know that CNN censored Putin for being just too darn sensible. Yep, it's true. About two weeks ago, Putin gave the network an exclusive 30-minute interview. And you know what happened? Nothing. It was never allowed to air. CNN doesn't know it yet, but that decision might have cost them their Russian broadcasting rights.
